Feminine Side of a Boy (2017-18)

When we were kids, we did everything and anything without the constraints of gender roles. My brother was no different, and these were his favorite poses—feminine, beautiful, and pure. I feared that one day, this expression would be stifled. Living in a patriarchal society, it was almost inevitable, but perhaps I held onto hope because I'm a rebel at heart.

In him, I saw myself. At that age, I cut my hair from waist-length to a tomboy style. As a tomboy, I faced countless criticisms and knew my brother would endure similar experiences. I felt compelled to photograph his feminine side, aware that he would eventually stop expressing it.

Now, at 19, he no longer strikes these poses. This series captures the fleeting moments of his feminine expression, a testament to the innocence and beauty that societal norms often suppress.
